Infinite Ordnance Rocket Articles
Rockets, in one form or another, have been in use since the Chinese invented gunpowder in the 9th century BCE. Mostly used to scare enemies or for entertainment, rockets gained more utility as technology increased, eventually rockets would carry explosive (among other things) warheads. Their range and speed made them somewhat more flexible than conventional artillery, but also much more expensive in many cases. Rockets also eventually found their way aboard aircraft, giving small fighter planes much more punch against fortifications and enemy armor. Unguided rockets are still in used today, mainly as saturation weapons aboard aircraft, but also as long range artillery, as with the US MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket System), and of course the ubiquitous Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG).
